Wow what a whirlwind of a day, we had to wait till around 3pm to be sure of the results but Taylor's 113/120 that he shot on Wednesday finished as the highest score over the 5 days and with over 1000 competitors taking part this was an amazing achievement at only 18!
As this is an English Open and one of the majors held by the CPSA the competiton doesn't end here, it just gives the top six scores the opportunity to shoot in a six man final.
The top six shooters were:
Taylor Hedgecock 113
Philip Thorrold 112
Paul Simpson 112
Carl Bloxham 111
Mark Winser 111
Steve Brightwell 111
Going into the shoot off is all Taylor has wanted to do for sometime and this was the day he got his wish. The final consists of 3 stands of 5 pairs, 30 birds in total. The score from this is then added to their original total. These are all big targets that you would expect from a super final and not for the faint hearted..
The final results were in and finished with
Paul Simpson 135
Philip Thorrold 134
Taylor Hedgecock 132
Carl Bloxham 130
Mark Winser 129
Steve Brightwell 126
This gave Taylor 3rd Overall and English Open Junior Champion for 2017 a fantastic result.
It was really lovely to see him on the podium with Paul and Philip 2 of the best shots in the world, just to be amongst them is something very special and as Philip is Taylor's coach it's extra special..
It was a double celebration as Taylor's sister ami also picked up 3rd in Lady Colts with a fantastic 86/120 Which if you look at the scores was not too shabby for a 13 year old with less than 2 years experience.
To say we are proud of them both is an understatement and they really could not do all this without the support of friends, family and sponsors, links to all of their sponsors can be found on his website.
